Get a Library Card

The Josephine-Louise Public Library can issue library cards to residents of the Village of Walden, and to residents of the Town of Montgomery who have Walden mailing addresses. Please visit our Get a Library Card page for more information.

Reference Department

The Josephine-Louise Public Library Reference Department is located on the second floor, just past the children’s area. The reference room offers a quiet study area, four computers with internet access, and a reference librarian on hand to help you locate the information you need.

Accessing the Internet

Wifi is available 24/7. Bench seating is available outside the building when the library is closed.

Library computers are available to Josephine-Louise Public Library cardholders. Each computer session is limited to 45 minutes, with the possibility of extending a session if no one is waiting. Patrons must have their own library cards with them to be allowed onto the computer. Out-of-area visitors are welcome to use the computer for 45 minutes as guests. For a more detailed explanation of the library’s internet use policy, please click here and refer to the Policies and Guidelines. Update: at this time Public Computers are available by appointment. Social distancing and mask regulations apply.

Age Specific Services

Babies

Baby Rhyme Time activities with Miss Julie incorporates music and movement to enrich an early love of language. Parents and caregivers are key to building reading readiness at the earliest age possible. At this time we are not able to offer in-house Baby Rhyme Time but we have an abundance of board books, picture books and take home activity packets.

Children

Miss Linda offers Story Times, word games and activities that teach early literacy skills. Story Time enhances social skills and exposes children to read-a-louds while increasing comprehension, attention span and early language development.

Kids

Check out e-books for kids through our Overdrive Kids. We offer streaming movies for kids through Hoopla (link) which provides appropriate age ratings videos, shows, and additional e-books and e-audio books. Miss Beth offers an Art For Kids series every 2nd Wednesday of the month for ages 5 years and up, 4:30 p.m. and a monthly Book Talk for ages 8 years and up. Visit our Calendar for more information. Summer and Fall months currently include Story
Walks around the building and contests using outside activities. As COVID mandates and numbers change, we will look forward to offering in-house library programming once again.
